If your auto insurance coverage amounts do not provide enough funds, the injured party can sue you for additional financial remuneration.
Uninsured motorists are subject to a $250 fee in order to reinstate their suspended registration. This fee can be reduced significantly if the motorist has sufficient proof that the vehicle was not operated during the period the auto insurance lapsed, as in if it were in a repair shop for a significant amount of time.
