The nursing field has increased over the past few years and there are currently many career paths and options that an individual can choose when they have a nursing degree. The following are the most popular nursing jobs on the market:

•Critical Care Nurse-This nurse works with very sick patients. A critical care nurse is typically stationed at Critical care units (CCUs) or intensive care units (ICUs) and supplies care for patients who are going through very serious, life-threatening illnesses.

•Anesthesia Nurse-This nurse assists in the operating room when a patient is provided with anesthesia in order to undergo a surgical procedure.

•Oncology Nurse-This nurse provides care to patients that have cancer.

•Cardiology Nurse-This nurse provides care and assessment to patients that have heart problems.

•Gastroenterology Nurse-This nurse provides care to patients that have stomach problems during treatments and diagnostic procedures.

•Psychiatric Nurse-This nurse provides care to patients that have mental illnesses.

•Geriatric Nurse-This nurse concentrates on the care of elderly individuals.

•Pediatric Nurse-This nurse concentrates on the care of children

•Emergency Room Nurse-This nurse works within the ER and aids in life threatening and emergency illnesses and situations where an injury took place.

•Traveling Nurse-This nurse travels to a variety of health care settings and provides nursing services. These nurses are among the highest paid nurses.

Nursing Job Classification

Nursing jobs are given classifications as RN also known as a registered nurse, a LVN/LPN also known as a licensed vocational nurse or a licensed practical nurse. Registered nurses supervise the duties performed by nursing assistants and LPNs. LVN and LPN nurses provide basic care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, or doctor. Nursing jobs are categorized as:
