I found the Peninsula Beverly Hills hotel to be extremely overrated. First of all, it is very expensive, and way overpriced for what it offers. I understand that Beverly Hills is generally expensive, but this hotel offers very little in return for what we had to pay. Second of all, the hotel's design is outdated and very pretentious. While this sort of thing may appeal to others, it absolutely did not add anything to my family's enjoyment while staying there. Third of all, the service we received was absolutely terrible. The hotel appears to offer two levels of service: all-star and peasant. My family and I, unfortunately, were treated to the latter level of service for no apparent reason. Perhaps because we are not famous, or did not make a grand entrance in an Aston Martin, the staff at the hotel felt that we did not deserve to be treated with respect and courtesy. Fourth of all, the hotel's food was at best mediocre. I did not enjoy their Sunday brunch, which I had heard others rave about. With so many fine dining options in and around Beverly Hills, I found it shocking that anybody would choose to eat at the Peninsula Beverly Hills. Finally, the hotel's housekeeping staff was intrusive, and assisted the rest of the staff with ruining our stay.It should be noted that the location, however, is fantastic. We enjoyed being so close to the heart of all of the action in Beverly Hills. That being said, I would stay in one of the many other fine hotels in the area next time I visit Beverly Hills or Los Angeles. While the Peninsula Beverly Hills goes out of its way to offer the illusion of being a five-star hotel, it failed to provide five-star service to us on our stay there. Outside of its location, it is hard to find a single redeeming quality among the hotels characteristics. In short, if you are looking for a five-star stay in Beverly Hills, avoid the Peninsula and choose one of the many other great options in the area.
