PhDin Social Work
You need a Phd in social sciences.
Columbia University is the first school to ever confer a PhD in Social Work and is an Ivy League University ranked way higher than Penn. Shocked no one has mentioned this.
The graduate degrees that can be obtained in order to work in social care are: Master of Social Work (MSW), a PhD, or a Doctorate in Social Work (DSW). The undergraduate degree is Bachelor of Social Work (BSW). At least one of these degrees are normally required.
I dont know dont ask me why did you ask me? LOSER!
Generally social work is not a profitable job field. Even with advanced degrees (masters, PhD) social work programs often offer less pay than other jobs, or may even be volunteer. If you are looking to be a social worker, it is for the work, not for the money.
Social workers are psychologists without the prestigious PhD's and fat paychecks.
It's not high enough. With a BS in Social Work, anywhere from $23,000 - $40,000 (that's on the very high end). With a MSW, anywhere from $33,000 to $52,000, even with years of experience. Those who go on to get a PhD in Social Work are worth a whole lot more because there are so few who have a PhD in Social Work. These individuals make six figures once they've got experience. All the best! However LCSW (licensed social workers) make $60,000 average and hospitals tend to pay a lot more, both medical social workers and psychiatric social workers with LCSW make $75,000 to $85,000 (e.g. Kaiser Permanente, Loma Linda) in California so location is another factor.
A psychologist has a PhD and a social worker has a master's degree. Basically, the psychologist went to school longer.
If you want to work within the area you have the PhD in, then it depends on what that area is. The question could have been better answered if we knew what the PhD is in, and could also look at the related fields. Without this information it is difficult to say. However, one such opportunity for Phd's is being an educator at the college and/or university level. If you want to work within the area you have the PhD in, then it depends on what that area is. A psychologist holds a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) and is trained to diagnose and treat mental health disorders using therapy and assessments. A counselor typically has a master's degree (such as in counseling or social work) and helps individuals cope with emotional challenges, improve relationships, and make decisions through counseling sessions.
I'm assuming a PhD and preferably field work.
