Port Au Prince, the capital of Haiti, is home to over 700,000 people and is one of the densely populated places in the world.

Port Au Prince was established in the 16th century by Spanish explorers. Ever since then, it has been a leading cultural and economic force throughout Haiti and the Caribbean. Port Au Prince is home to many different cultures and types of people. The main population consists of people of African descent that were brought by the French in the 1800s. Port Au Prince, despite having a wonderful port located in the Gulf of Mexico, is home to many poor people and in recent years the city of Port Au Prince has been characterized by it’s many slums and dumps. The city was devastated in 2010 when a giant earthquake shook the entire country of Haiti. Many of the buildings and infrastructure in Port Au Prince were destroyed instantly.

Arts & Entertainment

Since the 2010 earthquake, many of Port Au Prince’s former arts and entertainment venues have been destroyed. Despite this, there are still many attractions and venues to explore in the city. One of the most fun thing to do is to partake in a Port Au Prince tour. Port Au Prince has many great locations and natural landmarks, and a Port Au Prince tour will enable you to see all of them.

The nightlife in Port Au Prince is some of the best in the Caribbean. The best place to enjoy the superb nightlife is in the suburbs of Petionville. You will also find many hotels and bars located in the downtown district of the city. In addition, upon traveling to the beach, you will find many entertainment venues. Such venues along the beach include surf demonstrations, shops, bars and restaurants.

Food and Drink

There are many places to enjoy a nice cocktail or some of the traditional cuisine in Port Au Prince. Many of the food in the city is inspired by the local food in the area, including food from Cuba and the Dominican Republic. There are thousands of restaurants and bars located within the confines of Port Au Prince. Many of these restaurants are family friendly, with smoking and non-smoking sections. Many of the restaurants have menus in both Creole and English, making it possible for United States tourists to order with ease.

The unfortunate earthquake that occurred in 2010 basically leveled half of the city, taking along with it many of the restaurants and bars that were home to so many happy tourists. There are still some that are standing, but it is a good bet that the one that you were planning on visiting before the earthquake probably is not standing after.

Port Au Prince is the capita city of Haiti. It has a rich history and a strong local culture. The people are very kind and friendly to travelers. However, a large earthquake leveled most of the buildings and left most of the population homeless. It would be very nice to volunteer time to help these people while visiting the city.

One of the major attractions that is very popular with people who visit Port Au Prince is the Marche en fer, or Iron Market. The Iron Market is a market that is densely-packed with a variety of vendors who sell all sorts of things. These things range from voodoo paraphernalia to food, like turtles. It is very fun and exciting to walk through the market. The senses are assaulted by all sorts of intriguing sights and smells. The prize offerings of the market are the art pieces that are lovingly-crafted by hand. These include things like sculptures, staves, paintings, masks, globes, cocunet belts, and tea sets.

Port Au Prince is a very interesting place.
