yes, easily...you will need a new head unit though. if you want a sub you will need a head unit with RCA outputs to connect the ammplifier. i run a panasonic head unit, 1200w amp, 2 12" subs, 4 mids and 2 tweeters in my 89' familia
On each side of the OEM stereo, you'll see two holes.. one at the top and one at the bottom on each side... there's a tool you insert in those to unlatch and remove the stereo head unit which comes with the vehicle when it's new.. if your Columbia was a fleet truck, those are often taken by fleet mechanics so they can have them when they have to replace the head unit.. if you have some straight picks, you can use those, and manipulate them. Once you've got it released, you pull the head unit out. The mounting plate will have to be removed, as well.. the OEM ones usually aren't compatible with aftermarket stereos. Then, you put in the new mounting bracket... the wiring harness which comes with the aftermarket head unit.. you usually only need the half which runs from the head unit to the connector for the other half of the unit.. it's all plug and play from that point on. Install the new head unit, and you're ready to go.
remove the dashboard face then you should beable to remove and put in your new stereo u may have to take out the heater cointroll unit to get do that
Check with Crutchfield.com. They can provide step by step diagrams of how to install your new stereo.

Connect the positive (usually red), earth (usually black) and accessories (usually blue)into the new head unit making sure the positive is fused. Connect the speakers into the head unit and away you go.
Between the hazard and defroster switch is a plastic piece that you can pop out with a flat headed screwdriver. Remove the one phillips head screw that is located behind it. After that you can use a panel remover tool or a flat headed screwdriver and gently pry the stereo bezel out from the retainer clips holding it on. After that is removed there are four screws, two on each side. Once you remove these the stereo will pull out. There are connectors for the stereo harness and antenna on the back. Pull the connectors out from the back of the stereo. Do not cut the stereo harness because you can purchase stereo harness adapters at stores like Walmart and Best Buy usually for less than $10. Keep the metal brackets that are on the sides of the factory stereo because you can use them to install your new stereo. I would recommend a nice double din dvd or navigation capable unit. The metal brackets from the old stereo will work nicely in helping you install your new stereo and you shouldn't need to buy a separate install kit, unless you go with a more affordable single din unit.
Begin by removing the decorative cover to your stereo. Remove the stereo retaining screws. Slide the stereo out and remove the wiring harness. Reverse the process to install your new stereo.
