If your i Pod 3G stops working or freezes, you can reset the device to repair the issue. Locate the hold switch on the top of your device. Turn it on then off again. Push "Play" and "Menu" at the same time. Release the button when the Apple logo appears. If this procedure does not work, connect your i Pod 3G to its power supply or to your computer and repeat the reset steps.
You can't reset it unless you reset your whole I pod and u don't want to do that because when you reset the I pod it erases all data
you go into settings and go into genrel and click on reset
You go to settings general and then reset

rebooting phone (off then back on)turning on airplane mode then off.turning on wi-fi then off.all of these methods disable then reset/reconnect 3g internet. if you are only getting 1g (1x) or 3g is intermittent then this is a service area problem. no 3g in your area.if you are not getting ANY internet then contact your service provider. sometimes service needs to be reset on their end or may be a problem with phone.
