Rolling out to see grandma, it's a 7 hour road trip and you have worked all day; sleep will be a requirement somewhere along the way. After about 3 hours into the drive you decide to pull into the local rest area to take a "cat nap". A few things that you need to remember while car sleeping in the rest area; never leave your car doors unlocked, always park in an area with good lighting, have your cell phone available, and if at all possible carry a travel size can of mace. Some rest areas have a guard on duty. If the rest area you decide to stop at does have a guard, find him/her and let them know that you need to take a small nap because you have been traveling. The guard will be able to watch out for you and your vehicle while you rest. Though traveling long trips alone is not recommended, sometimes they are a must. If you remember to do these few steps you will make your car sleeping stop a little more safe.
