Healthy, Glowing Skin

Glamour recently interviewed renowned makeup artist, Carmindy, from TLC’s What Not To Wear,who recommends using bronzer to ease the transition into spring makeup. She suggests choosing a light bronzer, about a shade darker than your natural skin tone. Apply bronzer to areas where the sun naturally hits, rather than all over the face. Carmindy suggests starting at the temples and applying in a “C” shape down below the cheek bones. This also adds contour to your face. For long faces, you can blend some bronzer on your forehead at the hairline and on your chin along the jawline to make it appear more round. Jason Hoffman, principal makeup artist for Shu Uemura says that bronzed skin doesn’t “necessarily mean tan”, so don’t go overboard.

Coral Everywhere

Coral is the “in” makeup color for spring 2010. Carmindy says we’ll be seeing corals “across the board” and recommends peachy pink colors for light skin, peach for medium skin and orange tones for darker skin. Makeup artist Christopher Drummond, founder of the all natural, vegan makeup line Christopher Drummond Beauty, says most everyone can wear coral on the lips, “whether it is bright or muted.”

Beautiful, Muted Colors

Speaking of muted colors, Drummond says these are the ones that are in for spring this year. Unlike last year’s trend of bright colors not found in nature, according to Drummond, 2010 will see, “naturally radiant colors that truly compliment the skin, while still adding a touch of whimsy and carefree splendor.” Drummond predicts that colors like baby blue, soft pink, and light tangerine will be the “go to” colors of the season. Keep it natural and let your own radiant beauty shine through.

Keep these expert tips in mind when going for a change this spring. Remember to use bronzer sparingly in all the right places, go for coral, and add muted colors to your makeup routine. Overall, just keep it natural.
