An upset stomach is something that will occur to everyone at some point in their life. There's really no getting around it happening, but there are some useful things that you can try to clear up the uneasiness of an upset stomach. Instead of sitting around and waiting for the pain and uncomfortable sensations to settle, try these tips out and your uneasiness should subside soon. The first step in curing an upset stomach is stopping the action that is making your stomach upset. If you're eating a food that is upsetting your stomach, stop eating altogether or find another food choice. If you're one to get motion sickness, try to stay still for awhile or lie on your stomach or back. Many times, removing yourself from whatever is causing you to feel green will soon (if not instantly) clear the issue up. Next, take a few Tums or other antacids to calm down pain from possible acids in your stomach. They're also great for heartburn. Many people even take them liberally because they have no serious effect on your health. They're also known for curing uneasiness pretty quickly, so wait about 10-15 minutes for any changes to occur. Drinking various liquids can also help with an upset stomach. For example, milk has been known to do wonders for a stomach ache by soothing it and calming it down. Additionally, many people drink peppermint tea and Ginger Ale to help tranquilize an upset stomach. After attempting to treat your upset stomach, lie on your back on a couch or bed and place a heating pad over where the pain or uneasiness is radiating the most. In some cases, this can make those with upset stomachs more uncomfortable, but in other cases it can add another degree of calming and soothing to the upset stomach. While using the heating pad, drag your fingers across the bare skin on your stomach very lightly. To many people, this is a nice sensation that helps take the majority of your attention off of your upset stomach. Lastly, wait. In most cases, an upset stomach does not last long, and it can go away in a relatively quick amount of time. However, if you find that your stomach feels uneasy or upset for longer than 2 whole days, it may be time to consult a doctor or physician about the issue.
