Let’s face it; fundraising has become cliché, predictable, and boring. There are the $1.00 chocolate bars that somebody is always inevitably selling when you are on a diet, the bake sale that your child always needs something baked for when you are out of flour, and worst of all those door- to-door fund raisers that lead to spending $15.00 on caramel corn. Fundraising doesn’t have to be this boring. In fact, there are plenty of creative ideas out there to get you started on making money for your organization.

Here are some suggestions to liven up your fundraisers and make more money in the process.

1. The Cheerleading Carwash. This is always an idea that ends up going over really well and making lots of money. If you are trying to raise funds for your cheerleading team, organize a car wash on a hot summer afternoon. There won’t be a lack of dirty cars or people willing to pay for a hands-on car wash. Remember to be classy and run your carwash the right way, you are representing your school!

2. The Date Auction. While not everybody in the date auction is always a fan of this fundraiser, it is wildly popular and usually does pretty well financially. Both men and women alike aren’t immune to bidding on some of the sexiest ladies and handsome hunks, and all of those profits will go to your organization.

3. Autographed Merchandise. If your school is located around an area sports team, try and see if they will donate some autographed merchandise to support your cause. Local Sports Memorabilia will go over great and will sell for a pretty penny. Most teams are more than happy to help out to increase their image in their area.

4. Gambling Night. This is another option that needs to be done properly, but if done correctly can be a lot of fun, and make a lot of money. Put together game nights where your organization acts as the casino and let your organization play the role of the ‘house’ for a night. With the odds stacked in your favor you are sure to come out on top and everybody will have fun in the process. Even the losers will know that at least their money went to a good cause.

These are just a few unique fundraising ideas that can be put together to support your cause. The ideas don’t stop here and with a little time and some outside of the box thinking, your financial goals will be met.
