Hi, the color or paint code is not in the VIN number. There should be a sticker on the under side of your trunk lid. It has the VIN and also several other groups of numbers. The color code is a number, at the bottom of the sticker and normally begins with "U" my impala is blue and the code is U 353E.
the original paint code is in the VIN. call a dealer and they can tell you how to read the vin
you have to call the vin number into the dodge dealership and they will give you a color code that was how ours was done anyways
No the vin does not have the color code. Depending on the model year and make trying looking at the vin sticker inside the drivers door jam to find the color code. That answer is incorrect, the VIN does tell the color, it tells everything.GM codes can be confusing! BC CC before the color code. This stands for Basecoat/Clearcoat. The U in the paint code means the Upper Color and the L means the Lower Color. Two tone vehicles will have each color coded, i.e. 96U and say 36L. Also, it could be 8867L or 8867U. You will need to find out from your vendor which digits depict the color.
Colour code is not normally in the VIN. Most vehicles have a separate colour code plate normall located in the boot Some cars Renault for example have a multi purpose plate showing VIN Engine code Colour code Gross weight etc.
Key code for this vin number
No, since there are no positions (of the 17-digit code) which are dedicated to the colour of the vehicle.

On a 2001 Cavalier, the 8th character of the VIN is the engine code. In all 17 character vin's, the 8th character is the engine code.
The eighth digit of the vin number is the engine code.
look on the body of your car by the drivers door, there is a vin plate with manufacturer info. there will be a paint code and a trim code there, typically with Hyundai it is a two digit/letter code
In the drivers door jamb there is a sticker that will have the VIN paint code and other info. It will be a three character code probably LS5.
