If you have wallpaper placed on the walls in your basement, you may decide you want to tear it down and put up new paper. It’s not all that easy to tear down old wallpaper, but it definitely is something that can be done. If you are considering installing new wallpaper, then consider what wallpaper design you will want. There are many, many types of wallpaper out there – different colors, themes, and even textures abound. Keep in mind that some wallpaper tends to be very expensive, so you will want to find wallpaper that you can afford.
When you want to remodel your basement, another option is to change the color of the walls. If you find your basement to be looking rather dull or boring, you can always brighten it up with some ultra-bright paint. If you find your basement to be too bright, you can always make it more neutral-looking with some different wall paint. Whether you choose bright or neutral walls, make sure you take the time to paint the walls correctly. A bad paint job is something that takes even more time to correct, so it’s much better to do a great job of painting when you apply the first and second coats of paint.
If you don’t have tons of money to work with, there are always ways that you can save money on basement remodeling. You can remodel your basement inexpensively if you find deals on the things you need for the remodeling. For instance, sometimes batches of paint are reduced at stores because an employee mixed them wrong. There is no specific brand of paint designed to cover wallpaper. Paint carries too much moisture to use on top of wallpaper. When paint is applied to wallpaper the wallpaper absorbs some of the moisture and immediately begins to bubble and lift at the seams. Your best bet is to soak the wallpaper with hot water and a sponge and let it soak in completely. Enzyme based wallpaper remover also works well because it eats away the glue backing on the wallpaper. There is a method for painting over wallpaper if for some reason you do not want to remove it. Pick up some shellac primer and apply that to the wallpaper. It dries so quickly the wallpaper doesn't have time enough to bubble. Then you can apply the paint. Word of warning: make sure you have a lot of ventilation when using the shellac. It have very strong fumes. I hope this helps.
