Being a wedding event planner is a stressful job. The fun of the job is that you get to plan an entire wedding for more than one person, the downside is that you aren't getting married, which can be quite a depressing thing when you think about it. You will put in many long hours doing things for people that never seem to quite appreciate it all until it is all over.

As the event planner, you are the one to deal with all the stress of things going wrong, cake being burned, the dress not fitting, having to put up with little girl temper tantrums- which frankly, can be even worse because they are being had by adult women! It is a very high stress job that not many people can handle without the help of an anti-anxiety medication or something like it. In most cases, a wedding event planner will take on at least two weddings at a time- sometimes even more than that. Making organization a very important factor. Keeping track of whose wedding is being held at what venue and who ordered the pink teacup roses instead of the white Chinese orchids can be a daunting task to remember!

When choosing to become a wedding event planner, it is sometimes best to consider asking around to some of the big event planner companies to see if you can intern with a planner for a wedding or two so that you get the hang of all the things that you will be expected to know and learn.

There are all kinds of things that will be important to your job that you may not know when you are setting out. Especially if you are attempting to be an independent planner away from a big company. Keep in mind when making such a decision that when working with a company instead of for yourself, you have the luxury of a reputible name to back you up if there is a mistake made.

Many larger companies have certification courses that you can go through so that your clients will know that you had some kind of training in what you are doing so that you look more reputible to them. Also, a larger company will more than likely be accredited with the National Wedding Event Planners Association, an association that backs up the companies if there is something really major that goes wrong- like an event hall burning down the night before the wedding- don't worry, a situation as such is very few and far between!
