Do your wiper blades clear your windshield completely? Have you had them checked recently? When's the last time you checked your wiper fluid? If you answered no' or I don't know' to any of those questions you may need a quick refresher on wiper blades. Learn everything you need to knowbefore the next rain storm.
First things first. Wiper blades are not an accessorythey are a safety feature. Caring for your wiper blades is just as important as maintaining your breaks. You should regularly inspect your wiper blades and ensure they don't produce streaks on your window. Occasionally use either mild dish detergent or windshield washer fluid on a damp sponge and clean dirt and debris off the rubber blades and also from the windshield where the wipers rest.
Don't try to save money on your wiper blades. Invest in your safety. When one blade needs replacement you should also replace the other one. Make certain you are purchasing the correct sized wiper blades for your vehicle. Check your owner's manual, measure the blades, or inquire at your local auto-parts store. On some vehicles, one blade is shorter than the other, so measure both wiper blades. Measure your rear wiper if you have one.
If you want to extend the life of your wiper blades, try not to use them for heavy duty cleaning. If your windshield is covered with heavy snow and ice, clean it off manually instead of destroying your wiper blades. Another tip is to always use your windshield washer fluid in conjunction with your wipers. Using your wiper blades on dry glass causes the rubber to wear faster than normal.
With proper maintenance, your wiper blades should protect you for about eight to nine months. After that time you should inspect them regularly to make sure they're working properly. If you don't feel comfortable replacing your own wiper blades you can usually go to a local mechanic or auto parts store and get them replaced for a nominal fee.
Drive to an auto parts store and purchase replacements. Replacement instructions are on the package the blades come in. HOW TO: Remove one of your present wiper blades. If you don't know how to remove the wiper blades, follow these general guidelines. There are different styles of blades, mostly relating to the way the blade attaches to the wiper arm. You will have to examine the attachment closely to see which kind you have. One kind uses a small flip-up lever that opens up a slot holding the attachment point, usually a small pin, on the wiper arm. Another type uses a spring pressure lever or tab to engage a mounting point (a corresponding slot or tab) on the wiper arm. MORE HELP NEEDED? If you are confused about which type of wiper blade you have, ask a store clerk for assistance. Then purchase and install the blades following the instructions on the wiper blade package.
i know how to put one on. lift the blade and arm as high as it will go. then tilt the wiper towards you. it slips on and cicks into place. try doing that in reverse.

The 2004 Volvo S80 had a mid-year production change that effected the wiper arm attachment, not the wiper blade length. This means you have to be very careful to buy the correct wiper blades with not only the correct wiper length but correct wiper attachment. There are others available, however I know of one "fool proof" blade that has the proper attachment for both the early and late production 2004 Volvo S80: Trico Tech Beam Blades. They are available online.Note, when buying wipers be sure to always lookup your vehicle make, model and year in the application guide book at the store, or now-a-days you can Google 'lookup wiper size' to avoid the headaches of buying the right lengths with the wrong attachments.Additionally, the installation process is simple. The replacement wiper blades will come with step-by-step, illustrated removal and installation instructions and once you have the instructions and the wiper blades/arms in your hands and in front of you, it will all make better sense and will an easy maintenance task. Very simple and takes 5-15 minutes usually not requiring any tools.

NOTE: The 2008 Honda Accord had a mid-year production change that affected the wiper blade configuration. If your wiper arms have a hook at the end of them, then you have a "Late Production". The "Early Production" models have a pinch tab arm attachment which is flat. You will be able to tell right away if you have hook arms or not - the hook is distinct. You'll need to know if you have the early or late version to continue.Step 1 is to be sure you get the right replacement wiper blade.Step 2: As far as installation, the replacement wiper blades will come with simple-to-follow, step-by-step, illustrated instructions
