State Financial AidMany states offer grants and scholarships to residents. Information about state programs will vary by state and can usually be obtained on state websites, through the student's high school or by contacting the financial aid office of schools that the student is interested in attending.
University AidMany universities offer their own grants and scholarships. Many state universities have scholarships that are automatically offered to students with a certain ACT or SAT score and grade point average. Many private universities offer grants and scholarships to high achieving students that may make the cost of attendance comparable to attending a public university.
For students who desire to attend college, it is possible, regardless of financial means. With grants, scholarships and careful borrowing, a university education can be open to all able students.
