Many people who want to build a great collection of movies don't necessarily want to buy DVDs at full price. There are many ways to find inexpensive DVDs that will add to a family's inventory of movies.

First, some video stores allow customers to buy DVDs that have been pre-viewed. In short, the DVDs are not brand new, but are still in watchable condition. Furthermore, these DVDs are generally sold at reasonable prices. Customers may have to look through a large display of pre-viewed movies in order to find the DVD they want, but the price may make it a worthwhile search. In addition, a person may be able to find an older movie or a classic that the store no longer needs. If a person isn't focused on buying DVDs that are in new condition, then this option may prove to be a favorable one.

Next, bookstores that sell used books sometimes sell pre-owned DVDs as well. It is worth a person's time to call a used bookstore or visit one to inquire whether they sell pre-owned DVDs. In addition, a person may find an interesting selection of DVDs at a used bookstore. Many people like to sell DVDs to a used bookstore instead of giving them away. A person may even find a rare copy of a particular classic or foreign movie at a used bookstore.

Finally, libraries often have book sales that include DVDs that have been removed from the collection. A DVD may go into the library's sale because it hasn't been checked out for a long period of time or perhaps the library purchased a newer copy of it. Generally, the DVDs available in a library sale will be reasonably priced. Many library book sales include a lot of used materials so a visitor may have to take some time to search through the inventory there. Kids are likely to find some of their favorite children's DVDs in a library sale as well. Plus, buying DVDs at a library sale benefits the library itself. A family could add to its collection of DVDs each year by browsing the unique selection at a library sale.
