Having just gone through this, I found that large electronic stores like "best Buy" will accept them if you pay them $10.00. Other than that, I suggest donating them to used computer shops. In my searching, I have found nowhere else wanted them.

Can a computer camera connect directly to the monitor bypassing the computer?

No. The data needs to be interpreted and processed in order to be displayed, something that the monitor, itself, cannot do at present. If it could, there would be no need for a computer because the components of the computer would be integrated in the monitor. Is the camera capable of doing so? Yes and no. The cameras of today are equipped with the basics for displaying images directly on their own integrated screens. However, as of yet, no tech is on the market to allow for plugging in a monitor to a cam. There are, however, some printers that can interpret and process directly from the cam, bypassing the computer. Fun fact. :D

Why would monitor stay in power safe mode?

There are many reasons. Here are a few in no specific order: 1) the computer is off 2) the computer is in standby 3) the computer is in screen saver mode 4) the computer is in hibernate mode 5) the video card the monitor is hooked up to is not the primary video controller (check BIOS/CMOS settings, hook the monitor to the other video controller till you fix the issue) 6) there is something wrong with the computer (power supply, video card, RAM, motherboard, processor) and the computer is not POSTing. 7) the monitor isn't hooked up to the video card, check the connector 8) the computer is in a resolution or refresh rate that is too high for the monitor. Boot in safe mode and adjust the resolution and/or refresh rates. 9) the monitor cable is broken internally. 10) the monitor itself is defective. To eliminate the monitor itself as the cause of the problem, hook it up to a known working system. If it works, look at issues 1-8. Otherwise, probably time for a new monitor.

If you have three computer monitors will you have to have three towers aswell?

No. The classic view of each computer having a single monitor is losing ground to a multi-monitor setup. In order to have more than one monitor running on a single computer, you'll either need a video card which supports multiple inputs or a motherboard in which you can install multiple video cards. Most modern video cards support at least two input channels. Modern motherboards which support multiple video cards are also becoming more and more common.
