When planning a party or other event that involves a lot of people, the logistics can be overwhelming. People have to think of things like where and how they will feed the visitors, where they’ll all sit, and how they’ll be entertained. There is one other thing that’s just as important, but easy to overlook: Where will everyone go to the bathroom?

Portable toilets are the answer to the question of taking care of this basic need without having a crowd trampling through your house or place of business. They are also great for outdoor settings, where there simply are no other facilities.

The most common type of portable toilet has a fiberglass enclosure and is often colored in a very unnatural-looking bluish or greenish shade. These do the job and are economical. They are not only used for one-off events like graduation parties, but for semi-permanent placements like at construction sites. They have a toilet and a roll or two of paper inside, and that’s it. Hand-washing and other such things must be done elsewhere.

There are, amazingly enough, such things as high-end portable toilets. More commonly advertised as “portable restrooms,” these units have everything a permanent bathroom does: Sinks, running water, mirrors, tiled floors, and of course, toilets. The toilets themselves may be enclosed in separate stalls. These are typically used at classier outdoor gatherings like weddings, where a simple outhouse would ruin the atmosphere.

Renting a portable toilet is easy, and doing so will ensure that people remember your party itself - rather than how they had to go to a gas station to relieve themselves.
