Well, without knowing what kind of TV you have, I can't say with certainty, but this is designed to work with any typical TV without damaging it.

How do you remove a scratch from a glass tv unit?

Assuming the scratch is on the front of the TV tube, it largely depends on how deep it is. Remember, the tube is a vacuum chamber, but the glass on the front can be around 3/8 inch thick, or thicker. To remove the scratch, you can go to the local hardware store and purchase some jewler's rouge. This is a very fine abrasive, usually red in color and generally sold in a stick form. Take a cloth square approximately 4X4 inches, dampen it lightly and apply the rouge to the cloth until you have a spot (about the size of a quarter) and start working on the scratch until you have it abraded down and the glass polished. The rouge is a very fine abrasive/polishing compound so it's best to work in curcular motions to remove the scratch. It may take as along as a couple of hours to hand polish the scratch, but keep applying the rouge as needed, remembering to keep the cloth damp. You want to work the area around the scratch as well to feather the edges and minimize the changes of having a large grooved area in the tube from rubbing in only one direction. Depending on how deep the scratch is of course, you may have a slight distortion in that area when you look at something on TV. If it's more of a surface scratch, then the distortion will of course, be less. After polishing the tube, be sure to clean it with some type of glass cleaner to remove the oils in the rouge. You can also put a bit of pressure on the cloth as you work the area since the glass is so thick.
