All of the little shaking movements that normally happen when you hold up a camera are made even more noticeable with a zoom function engaged. A small movement that might not have been noticeable up close can make it so that you do not take a picture of the right thing; at the very least, this will make it so that the picture is blurry. A support can prevent all of this.
