Since Liberty Tax is a franchise you will not find a definitive answer, but probably not very much. I worked for a Liberty Tax a few years back and made $8.50 and hour plus a 1% commission. In one instance I did $700 worth of returns in and hour, my earnings $15.50. Needless to say that was my only year there and the following year I opened my own tax business. I have also worked for HR Block and same thing. Unless your franchise owner is very generous you will not make much money doing taxes for the big 3. With that said they will provide you with valuable training and experience so you can eventually open your own tax preparation business where the real money is at. You can literally go from $10 to $100 an hour, but make sure you are ready because you don't want to get in over your head.

Good Income And Knowledge As A Registered Tax Preparer?

A tax preparer has the advantage of making some good income in this seasonal position. Lots of people need to file their taxes, so for much of the year there is plenty of opportunity. The IRS now requires tax preparers to have a preparer tax identification number -- PTIN -- that can be gotten online. "Knowledge" learned by the tax preparer is intuitive. From a practical understanding of taxes, you get a basic idea if the system is generating profit for the people and if business and government are moving ahead.
