YOU are the one that may well get in trouble...experience has shown that when spouses do this, particularly when a divorce is possible, they are also doing things on the return that are not correct and YOU are ENTIRELY respponsible for the return with your name on it...you will be financially and legally responsible for the problems/errors reported. You should insist on filing seperately rather than jointly...which is entirely YOUR option. You can not rely on thinking that because you let someone else do it, it sin't your repsonsibility and you didn't know. Get a lawyer...divorce, spouse handling financials, sounds like your getting set up pretty easy.....
