Unearned income is a liability until it is earned and is listed under liabilities under on the Balance Sheet. The reason it is a liability is because it is money that you have receive but have not yet earned, therefore you as a company "OWES" something. Example: Your company receives and order for $5,000 in watches, but you won't ship the watches until later. You must list the $5,000 as Unearned Income because you have the Income but you haven't earned it and you now have an obligation to the purchaser to either 1. complete the order and ship the watches or 2. refund the purchase price.

Bad debt would appear on a Balance Sheet as an allowance for doubtful accounts, which is a contra asset account. This account reduces the total accounts receivable balance to reflect the estimated amount that may not be collectible. The net accounts receivable is shown on the Balance Sheet to provide a clearer picture of the expected cash inflows. Bad debt itself does not directly appear as a line item but impacts the overall financial position indirectly.
If you sell goods that have yet to be delivered you would create an account for unearned revenue. Unearned revenue is a liability account because you are still liable to produce those goods so if you are increasing the amount of unearned revenue you would credit the account, however if you are decreasing the unearned revenue, meaning you have supplied the goods to the customer, then you would debit the account.
