The pattern of l903 (Flyer) I believe, and am guessing from hobby kit models, had a span of about 40 Feet and was truss-braced like a bridge. Lateral control was effected by wing-warping, the craft did not have ailerons, which were developed by arch-rival Glenn Curtiss in l908, and were originally called interplane field struts- these field struts were unique Curtiss Craft. Bow-on a Curtiss pushe4r of say, l909 looked almost like a triplane as the (Field struts) extended beyond the normal span of the biplane wings. they are not triplanes, but look like it if seen at the correct angles.
