Like so many things it depends. Big airports such as Los Angeles, Miami or JFK in New York tend to have longer lines than smaller regional airports such a Flagstaff or Knoxville. For someone flying coach without premier status with the airline, you might wait 20-25 minutes at a large airport but only five minutes at a smaller airport. People who are frequent flyers or who are flying first class typically have access to shorter lines. The fastest service goes to people who either sign up for (and pay for) a service such as Clear or who have received the TSA Pre-Check service.
