The least expensive helicopter is the two-seat Robinson R-22, at $265,000 per copy. It will carry a 400-pound load, so it's okay if you want a helicopter to go up and have fun flying a helicopter, or to dry off cherry trees (don't laugh; if a cherry tree gets wet while the cherries are almost ripe and you don't dry it off the crop will go bad, so in places that have lots of cherry growers people will buy helicopters and hire themselves out to dry the trees after rainstorms), but if you want to haul any kind of a load--like your children or your dog--it's not what you want.

The least expensive helicopter you can do anything with is a Robinson R-44, which costs $365,000.

If you want a Bell 407, which is the current version of the "Jet Ranger" helicopter you see everywhere, you need $2.5 million.
