It can be 11 hours direct. I fly to Bangkok regularly from Manchester, but what I do is fly Emirates airlines to Dubai, have a 2 hour layover and then fly to Bangkok. It literally splits the trip into two equal portions and gives you a chance to relax and stretch your legs ( AND SHOP) in Dubai Airport.

BA & Qantas fly via Singapore, China Southern fly via Guangzhou, Malaysia Airlines fly via Kuala Lumpur, American Airlines fly via LA, Emirates fly via Dubai, Thai Airways fly via Bangkok, Virgin Atlantic fly via Hong Kong. There are as many options for a stopover as there are airlines.
