An airbreather is an air-breathing aircraft engine.

If you have a local auto salvage yard, you should be able to find the air breather housing but if not, try a search online at www.automotix.net/partshotline-ford-aerostar I just checked and a person in Ohio has one. The noisy power steering, even after replacing the power steering pump they seem noisy so I don't know what you can do to quiet it down. I don't know about the transmission except to try to find an honest repair person to check it out.
Hello, it's a pretty easy process that should only take about thirty minutes to complete. You will need a phillip screwdriver, 8mm and 10mm wrench/socket. With the hood up, remove the three phillip screws that holds the grille to the vehicle. Remove the two 10mm bolts which hold the plastic clips attached to the top of the headlight assembly. Remove the plastic cover from around the headlight wiper arm and remove the 8mm nut, then pull the wiper arm off the stem. There are two phillip screws that hold the headlight, they can be access from the passenger side of the vehicle between the radiator/airbreather. The other can be accessed by simply removing the side marker/turn light from the headlight assembly. Now you are ready to remove the headlight, it is wedged into the opening pretty sug, but will come out with a little patience. Install in reverse order.....good luck.
