Tu-144 or as NATO called it Charger. The USSR built the Tupolev Tu-144 and the first one flew on 12/31/1968 which was 2 months before the Concorde flew. It went into passenger service in 1975. Only 16 airworthy planes were built, and production ceased in 1984.
