I experienced two incidents of fainting on long-haul flights, both fairly unpleasant. The incident starts with a spinning head, stomach-ache and a feeling of nausea. The first incident saw me on the cabin floor two times before the incident subsided. The second incident saw me feint on the empty seats next to me. When I explained my symptoms to the KLM air hostess, she said I had "air sickness" and gave me a glass of cola with sugar. She said that this happens many times on flights especially to the men! This "sugar trip" immediately eliminated the nausea and I was able to continue the flight as normal. She was right!
I no longer feint on aircraft. As well as having a good meal at the airport before the flight, I now take a "motion sickness" pill 30 minutes before an I no longer feint.
Even on short-haul flights, I can get "air sick" if I spend too long reading or working on the computer. Luckily, the pills are not far.

Fainting is usually diagnosed based on the patient's history of events leading up to the fainting episode, a physical examination, and sometimes tests such as an electrocardiogram (ECG) or blood tests. It is important for a healthcare provider to rule out underlying medical conditions that may contribute to fainting, such as heart problems or low blood sugar.
