The reason jet aircraft are so fast is because of the Thrust produced from the powerful engines. A jet engine has a lot more power than a typical propeller engine. The thrust of the engine basically comes from taking intake air and compressing it many times over and pushing it out of the rear of the engine. As you know, it is much easier to push something than it is to try and pull it. Propeller aircraft pull the plane forward whereas a jet is pushed forward. These engines are so powerful that any commercial aircraft is able to takeoff and land on only one engine with a full load of passengers, cargo and fuel. (Some of these aircraft weigh as much as 100 ton's empty) I hoped this helped you a little. There is not enough time or space to teach you the operations of a jet engine.
It depends on weight, wing span stall speed
Jet airliners travel at about 500mph
Mach 3.7
The F-18 is a very fast plane
2,193.167 by the Lockhead SR-71A is the fastest for a jet plane the fastest by any plane was 4,520 by a rocket plane though
A high-speed jet is nowhere near as fast as a lightning bolt.
A jet plane is propelled by the force produced by its jet engines, which expel high-speed exhaust gases to create thrust. This thrust overcomes drag and allows the plane to move forward through the air.
depends on what jet and how fast ANSWER The Earth's circumference is about 40,000 km (kilometres). To circle it in one day you would need to travel this many km in 24 hours or 1670 km/hr in a jet, a jet boat, a very fast car or anything that will go that fast.
a jet. a fighterjet
Yes,it does exist. There is a kind of jet called a Super Sonic Jet that can travel at the speed of sound. As far as the character goes,no.

One of the most common US jet fighter bombers of the Vietnam War was the F100 Super Sabre. Used only by the USAF, the Super Sabre, nicknamed the "Hun", fought from 1962 until 1971. During it's "gun-runs"/"bomb runs" averaged between 400 to 600 mph. Top speed exceeded 800 mph.
