Alai is Enders first friend at battle school. They become friends because it would be helpful to be friends with your enemys friends. he is also gay because kissed ender on the lips actually french kissed him in the the midst of the night

PFFT ok the guy who wrote this first entry has no idea what he is talking about. Alai is Ender's SECOND friend after Shen. He eventually becomes a commander of an army. NO he is not gay, and he did not "kiss ender on the lips actually french kissed him in the the midst of the night" he kissed him on the forehead, no, it doesnt mean hes gay, its just the tradition of the country he came from. Also, his name is ALAI not ALIA. nuff said.

After kissing Ender "on the cheek," Alai says "Salaam" to him which generally means "Peace be with you," in Arabic. This implies that Alai simply understands the difficulties that Ender is about to face in reference to leaving his launch squad, which he recently became comfortable in. The gesture is supposed to show the author's incorporation of cultural knowledge within his book. Basically, the action was nothing more than another way of saying "Fare thee well" and should not be confused as being a homosexual advance.

Also, at this point in the story, the two boys are 6 years old! I know the boys are mature for their ages, but romantic thoughts at 6 years old is a bit hard to choke down(lolz).

Ender and ' Alai ' become friends because in the

battle room Ender was pushing off of the wall , and

was trying to land near Alai ( Alai is Bernard's friend )

Alai helped Ender try not to hit Alai and grabbed Ender

so Ender wouldn't hit Alai .
