I would say that the timing is off, if it has distributor and not coil packs try to turn the distibutor some.

Stalling when stopping can be a sign of a bad lock-up torque converter solenoid. But if it stalls while in park, it may also be a very bad vacuum leak, especially if it idles rough. I am assuming it has good plugs and plug wires.

Get a code reader to find out what computer codes are showing. You can buy them for under $50.00 or borrow/rent them from some of the auto parts stores around. *It sounds like a bad EGR valve,have it checked,Good Luck!
