I am having the same problem. I had the fuel pump replaced and the problem was solved, but now the car stalls when I make a left turn. the engine light still goes on, but not when the gas tank is full. I suspect something malfunctioning in the gas tank, or in the fuel delivery system itself.

In a 1991 Mercury Capri, a blinking manual shift light typically indicates that the vehicle's engine is not operating within the optimal RPM range for shifting gears. This might be due to factors such as incorrect throttle position, engine load, or potential issues with the transmission. It's advisable to check the vehicle's engine performance and transmission fluid levels or consult a mechanic for diagnosis to ensure proper function.
The manual shift light on a 1993 Mercury Capri typically blinks to indicate that it's time to shift gears for optimal performance and fuel efficiency. This feature helps the driver maintain the engine's RPM within an efficient range. If the light blinks excessively or erratically, it may indicate a problem with the transmission or engine performance that should be checked. Always refer to the owner's manual for specific troubleshooting related to your vehicle.

The rough idle, loss of power on acceleration, check engine light, and misfire in your Mercury Capri could be due to several issues, such as faulty spark plugs or ignition coils, which can cause misfiring and affect engine performance. Additionally, a clogged fuel filter or failing fuel pump may restrict fuel flow, leading to power loss. Another possibility is an intake or vacuum leak, which can disrupt the air-fuel mixture. It's advisable to run a diagnostic scan to pinpoint the specific cause based on the error codes.
