Check plugs & wires first. you check the wires at night or a very dark area. start truck & open hood. look for sparks on or near wires. any sparking then replace wires. While you are check the wires, look around dist & coil etc for any sparking. Remember that the fan is turning!! in day light remove dist cap & see if rotor is worn & condition of inside of dist cap. check fuel pressure. You should also check the PCV valve to see if it is plugged. Also check to make sure the plug wires are hooked up correctly in the right firing order. Also check the condition of the oxygen sensor, exhaust muffler, and the catalytic converter. Clogged exhaust systems can wreak havoc on engines. Also check the IAT (idle air control) sensor. Check for a vaccuum leak
