Do A compression test and a leakdown test too, This will tell you if you have A internal leak. The compression and leak numbers are not nearly as critical as the numbers being within 20% of each other across all cylinders.
Follow the upper rad hose from the rad ot the engine and there is a housing with the thermostat inside. TAke the 2 bolts holding it on out and remove the thermostat. When replacing it make sure the spring is toward the engine. Mine had three nuts. Piece o cake to change-20 minutes. 1993 Beretta
The 1994 Chevrolet Beretta thermostat is located on the front of the engine. You can follow the top radiator hose directly to the thermostat housing. The thermostat will be in the thermostat housing.

the thermostat could be stuck closed or the radiator fan is not working. check the fuse or the temp sensor, but be careul because the 94 have 2 sensors. 1 for the fan and 1 for the temp gauge.
