1997 gmc safari van the service engine soon light came on and the van gets hot At cold start-up the van will heat up to 210 degrees in a few short miles but will not get any hotter?

get your cooling system checked (eg: pressure test). it may be something wrong with your cooling (in my 97 Saturn if there's a cooling problem the check engine light comes on and the coolant temp defaults to the half line on startup)
