When the AC light on the controller blinks, the unit has determined that the compressor should not run for some reason (too dry inside, too cold outside, etc.). If it blinks anytime, you might have a defective controller, but it is likely to be some sensor input telling it to NOT run. I had the same thing on mine, the controller would flash AC when I thought it needed to run, but after a few minutes of driving it would come on. The dual temp control units on these cars are screwed up. I'll never again buy a car with dual auto temp controls for just this reason.
The 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue turn signal flasher control module is below the dashboard on the drivers side of the passenger compartment. The signal flasher control module should be labeled as such.
Have you tried pressing the cruise control button on the dash?
The AC control head is the control panel for the heater/air conditioning in the vehicle.
UNDER THE COIL PACKS
In a 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue, the heater and air conditioner are controlled by the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) control module. This system utilizes various sensors and actuators to regulate temperature and airflow based on driver and passenger preferences. The climate control settings can be adjusted manually through knobs and buttons on the dashboard or automatically in models equipped with automatic climate control. Additionally, the system relies on the vehicle's electrical system to operate components like the blower motor and temperature blend door.
Most likely loss of refrigerant.
In a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue, hot and cold vents are typically located in the dashboard, providing climate control for the cabin. The hot vents, which release warm air, are connected to the vehicle's heating system, while the cold vents are part of the air conditioning system. These vents can be adjusted to direct airflow to different areas of the interior for optimal comfort. If you're experiencing issues with these vents, it may be related to the HVAC system or controls.
For the engine, under the plastic engine cover (sight shield). For the a/c, under the right side of the dash.
To remove the heater and AC control unit from an Oldsmobile Intrigue, start by disconnecting the negative battery cable to avoid any electrical issues. Next, carefully remove the trim panel surrounding the control unit using a trim removal tool to avoid damaging clips. Unscrew the mounting screws holding the control unit in place, then disconnect the electrical connectors and gently pull the unit out. Finally, reverse the process for installation, ensuring all connections are secure.
Pull the plastic trim that surrounds the radio and center stack, remove the screws that hold it in, pull it out and unplug it. Reverse to install.
The 1994 Oldsmobile air conditioning compressor control relay can be found on the firewall in the engine compartment. The relay will be on the passenger side of the firewall.
Olds intrigues have a habit of the heater/a.c. control head going bad. It will set you back about $600 to replace it.
