The 5.9 Cummins didn't come out until 1989...
disconnected neg battery cable remove bolt and nut attaching starter to bell housing. turn starter slightly and disconnect wires from starter. remove bolt from intermediate shaft at steering box and position out of the way. then remove starter though fender well. reverse procedure
I believe it's a 7/8-14x1" shoulder bolt, though I'm not 100% certain.
Cam sensor on a 2006 Dodge Cummins is found just below the fuel injection pump. It is attached to back of the timing gear housing. It is attached with an Allen head bolt.
It might bolt up, but it will not work with out major modifications.
it goes from the starter mounting bolt to the battery box.
The starter bolts on a 1998 Dodge Dakota require a 5/8 inch socket or wrench.
disconnect the battery, un bolt the starter and replace it then connect the battery
