Replace engine mounted temperature sensor and IAC valve(or clean throttle body and IAC according to an automotive manual). Before trying both of these, replace PCV valve to correct any vacuum problems.
Two of the most common causes are throttle position sensor and idle control valve problems.
Temp sending unit for ecm. most likely sensor is bad computer cant read engine temp, fast idle do to cold reading
Idle is computer controlled by the pcm (computer)-not adjustable.
there is no "fast idle solenoid" there has'nt been a fast idle adjustment on passenger cars in over 20 years
Most cars typically idle between 400 to 1000 rpm
Yes. My 2000 Saturn had a leaking intake gasket, idle about 1900. Also caused misfire in idle and extreme acceleration. Test for leak using brake cleaner on suspected leak. I replaced gasket and all problems fixed.
1,000 to 2000 depending on condition of engine
MY 2000 saturn is a standerd and I get an av of 38mpg

A 2000 Toyota Echo may idle fast due to several reasons, including a malfunctioning idle air control valve (IAC), a vacuum leak in the intake system, or issues with the throttle body. Additionally, problems with the engine's sensors, such as the mass airflow sensor or coolant temperature sensor, can also lead to irregular idling. It's important to diagnose the issue properly to ensure effective repairs.
Saturn spins faster then earth
The idle air control valve on a Saturn SC1 is found on the intake manifold. This valve controls how much air enters and engine and allows how high the motor can idle.
