bad sending unit in tank.
The gauge or sensor needs to be replaced.
Either the gauge is broken or the sender is broken.
You need a new fuel pump
You fuel float my have a hole in it or be fuel logged.Replacement is advised.
The sensor is in the fluid container so take it off the vehicle and disconnect it and take the whole thing to the dealer who will have the part and gladly show you how to put it in.
Sending unit is bad, or the unit is no longer grounded. Most gauges work on resistance, 0 resistance being empty and 90 or so being full. if no ground is present then the circuit won't be complete, on the other hand, if the wire is shorted the gauge should show full.
Imagine a glass with water to the middle of it(half). You can say "The glass it's half full" or " The glass is half empty". Generally, if you say the 1st you are a optimist, the 2nd you are pessimist. So if you are a glass half full kind of person means you see situations in a optimist point of view.
probably no gas, if there is gas then your gauge in the tank is broken or frozen
I have talked to many car mechanics including the guys from the radio show Car Talk. They all have given me the same answer. They said that it should done by the Chevrolet/GM Service department.
float could be stuck, or the fuse could be blown, some cars show full, empty or half when there is no voltage (normaly a 10 amp fuse) Could also be a bad sending unit. Unfortunately this is located inside the gas tank and is part of the fuel pump assembly. See "Related Questions" below for more
The sending unit in the tank has failed. It attaches to the side of the fuel pump module. You have to remove the fuel tank to access.
