When you turn the temp dial there is a "door" that opens or closes depending which direction you turn the knob. This lets either fresh, cool air in or it closes the door and forces the air to flow through the heater core. Sounds like this is not happening with your truck. I don't know if yours is one controlled by cable, vacuum, or an electrical solenoid. But that's where I'd start.
Replace it with the exact same temperature thermostat as the one you removed. Do not run the engine without a thermostat. The thermostat is required to keep the engine running at the optimum temperature that will give the best performance and mileage. If it is overheating running it without a thermostat is not the solution.
have you checked the fan
it the thermostat you should get it checked out because mine was doing that an it was running hot an i didnt know it because there was no steam
That depends on the thermostat. If it's a 185 thermostat, the engine should run at 185. If it's running too hot, check the thermostat, radiator and water pump. If it's running too cold, replace the thermostat.
I'd start with the thermostat. Make certain that you have plenty of coolant and that the radiator isn't blocked. After you've checked all that... we'll talk.
The furnace may keep running even when the thermostat is turned off due to a malfunction in the thermostat itself, a wiring issue, or a problem with the furnace's control board. It is important to have a professional HVAC technician inspect and repair the issue to ensure safe and efficient operation of the heating system.
The furnace fan may keep running even when the thermostat is turned off due to a malfunction in the fan relay or a problem with the thermostat wiring. This can cause the fan to continue running independently of the thermostat setting.
Typically, Microsoft Security Essentials can be removed by going to Control Panel - Programs and running the uninstall there.
The thermostat controls only the temperature of the water.
When you say the furnace is still running, I take that to mean the fan and not the actual flame portion of the furnace. If this is correct, you either have a fan relay that is sticking closed or your tstat is bad. == == == == There may be a very slight time delay the the thermostat before turning off the furnace, but if you are sure that you have turned the thermostat off and the fire continues to burn, you have a serious problem. Have it checked out. The gas valve may be sticking in the open position. Regards
Most likely you need a new thermostat. They will go bad even in the summer time. This is the simplest explanation and the easiest to fix.
It is located on the block end of the top hose coming from the Radiator. Remove the accessible bolts and just make the bottom one loose and the thermostat will easily come out. I just had mine removed for good after overheating. Car is running better.
