To the right of the gear shifter is a small plastic peg. Using a screwdriver, remove this peg. With the engine running and your foot on the break, put the screwdriver in the hole where the peg was. There is a switch that will release the gear shifter and allow you to put the car in Reverse or Drive. These directions are in your owners's manual.
