The coolant temperature sensor in a 1998 Cadillac Seville STS is in the engine compartment. It is located on the intake manifold.

There are a couple of reasons why a 1996 Cadillac Seville SLS may overheat. The coolant may be low or the thermostat needs to be replaced.
It is located under the coolant reservoir. You can't just replace the sensor. The whole coolant reservoir must be replace. It's a simply 10 minute job.
If you are looking under your hood. Coolant goes in reservoir at top right near stearing wheel
Blown head gasket is a distinct possibility, unless you just flushed and changed the coolant. In that case it is trapped air escaping.

Low coolant. If the coolant is low then the heater core is not able to transfer heat in to the car.
Don't! Most cars have a reservoir for radiator coolant ... add liquid to the reservoir. Opening the radiator cap introduces air into the sealed system ... you don't want air bubbles in the cooling system.
