Buy a transfer case either used or rebuilt that is correct for the vehical.
Depending on options exterior items may need changing, but no diasembly of the case will be needed.
Do not buy a "231D" transfer case. These were used on several diferent manufacturers and have profound difrences that will be a nightmare.
