I'm a single woman and i need to change the air charge temperature sensor on my 1993 olds cutlass supreme. i need a "how to" please.
No, they are not the same. An air intake temperature sensor measures the temperature of the air as it enters the engine intake, while an air charge temperature sensor measures the temperature of the air after it has been compressed by the turbocharger or supercharger.
messi was poor
Which temperature sensor? There is an air-fuel charge sensor, and a coolant temp sensor.
That would depend on which temeprature sensor you are asking about. Is it the coolant temperature sensor or the air charge tenerature sensor you are asking about?
I need to know
The air charge temperature sensor is located in the air inlet between the air filter and the air horn. The coolant temperatur sensor is located in the intake manifold. I believe that you need to have a Repair Shop scan the engine and do diagnostics on the car before you replace parts that may not be bad. Just because you get a code does not mean that part is bad.
it screws in the air filter box top

The Intake Air Temperature sensor send the PCM data on the air charge entering the engine. It will be found forward of the throttle body assembly and screwed into the air hose feeding it.
On a 2000 Ford Explorer : YES ( the intake air temperature sensor / air charge temperature sensor should be in the rear side of the big rubber engine air intake tube , located between the engine air filter and the throttle body )
The coolant temp sensor would be located between #3 & #5 spark plugs. The air charge temp sensor would be located in the air intake snorkel between the air filter box and the throttle body.
