There are a total of 19 fasteners that hold the water pump to the 4.9 engine;

4 #45 Torex (the heads are a female star pattern so you will need a male tool)

7 10mm nuts

1 15mm stud (you will need a deep socket)

7 10mm bolts

Now listen-up, this not an easy job, and professionals screw it up all the time. So take your time and pay attention to how it comes apart.

you will need to make a bolt map, so take the new pump or gasket and draw an outline on a piece of card board. as your fasteners come off, push them into the cardboard where they go.

Once you get all of the other stuff out of the way start by taking the pulley off (3ea 13mm bolts) don't skip this step because there are two bolts behind it.

Clean off the place where the gasket goes to bare metal on the engine (use razor blades and scotch brite pads).

Use some permatex water pump sealant on both sides of the gasket.

Next, the big Torex bolts and the 15mm stud take 30 Ft Lbs of torque but all of the 10mm bolts / nuts only take 5 ! any more and they will pull the studs / threads out !

Good luck.
