yes there is a seal on the front of compressor that can go bad and leak freon.
You add freon to the low side fitting, top front,on the ac compressor
the port to add freon is under the car in front of engine coming off the compressor hard to get to but can be done
It should be right on the front of the compressor - usually the clutch is inside the v-belt/serpentine pulley on the compressor
The AC clutch is on the front of the compressor where the belt rides. When power is applied to the clutch it engages to turn the compressor. It is basically a magnet a/c compressor clutch is the ound thing on the front of the compressor with pulley wheel attached. this clutch is an electro magnetic clutch that when electricity is supplied, engages so as the a/c compressor is driven ,which can then pump freon thru the ac system
Blue port. If you have the rear air then the charge will be greater than front air only.
Mabe your compressor is not kicking on for some reason. Check to see if the front of your compressor starts spinning when you turn it on. If it don't check to see if there is power to the wires that go to your compressor. If there is power you have a bad compressor. If there is not check the fuses or relays.
Its in front of the sign that says Safari
The compressor is located under, to the left of the engine. You will see that it is attached to the belt (its an a/c compressor!) and it is right in front of the radiator fans. The compressor will have some silver houses running to it, and a socket wire harness conected to it. Hope this helps heh
The vehicle could be low on Freon. The ac system has a low pressure switch that stops the compressor if the Freon is too low. Looking at the front of the ac compressor, the center of the pulley (clutch) should be spinning when the ac is turned on, not spinning when the ac is off. If this clutch is not spinning then something ( low pressure switch, relay, etc.) is shutting the compressor down.
The amount of Freon that goes into a 1995 Chevy Suburban depends on whether or not their is just front AC or front and rear AC. If the Chevy Suburban on front AC only it takes 3.0 pounds of r134a Freon. If there is front and rear AC then it takes4.25 pounds of r134a Freon.
If you mean the electrical connection then there really isn't a problem. If you mean the hoses then what may happen is the A/C compressor will fill with dirt and such and become unusable. If the electical connection is removed then the compressor may leak freon, as the front seal doesn't get any lubrication.Without lubrication thwe seal drys out and cracks.
Raise the front of the car on jack stands. Don't trust a jack. Take the right front wheel off. Remove the splash panel off the inside of the fender well. Take the bottom splash panel off. Take the serpentine belt off. Recycle the freon with a special pump. Disconnect the electrical wire harness. Unbolt the lines from the compressor. Unbolt the compressor from the frame. Installation is the reverse of these steps.
