Yes - traction control is part-n-parcel with the ABS system.

I went all last winter with a bad sensor that left me with not only no ABS, but also no traction control..

Right after the last snow I fixed it up good ($45 and 30 minute repair).

Why does your 2001 ford windstar traction control make a grinding sound when it kicks in?

Where is the traction control sensor located on a Pontiac Aztec 2001?

On a 2001 Pontiac Aztek, the traction control sensor is typically located in the wheel speed sensors on each wheel hub. These sensors monitor the rotational speed of the wheels and send data to the vehicle's ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) module, which helps manage traction control. For more precise locations, it may be beneficial to refer to a service manual or consult a professional mechanic.

Why is traction control warning light on 98 windstar?

Likely one of the sensors is acting up - at least that was the case on my 2001. A sensor sending back bad signals, or no signal triggers both the ABS and traction control warning lights. I had to pay a shop to read the codes ($45 at my favorite tire store) - and we determined the most likely suspect was the left-front sensor. Another $45 to the dealer (not exclusively a dealer item - most auto parts stores carry them) and a 20 minute replacement job - I was warning light free and both ABS and Traction Control were working again. :) See the "Related Questions" below for more about those sensors.

Why does your Traction Control Light come on on your 2001 Honda Accord?

Traction control, when engaged "senses" when a driving tire has no traction. The system will then compensate for this by slowing the spinning wheel through partial application of the brake, reducing power or both. The system uses wheel speed sensors to monitor the wheel speed. When traction is lost the sensor prompts the brake computer to partially apply the brake to the wheel that is spinning, allowing it to gain traction. Sort of like Antilock brakes in reverse.

If the problem persists, consider seeking assistance from a qualified mechanic for a thorough diagnostic and repair.
